Job Title:           System Operator Trainee

Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent education is required.
Intermediate to advanced experience (beyond basic data entry) working with computer applications
Previous experience in the electrical industry is preferred.
Ability to professionally interact with consumer/members and fellow employees
Ability to interpret, direct, and execute company policies, procedures and OPM’s
Shift schedule will vary.  System Operations area will operate 24 hours/7 days per week.

Residency and On-Call Requirements
It is preferable to live within the electric service area but not required.
Employee is subject to be available for response to outages or other service needs.

Job Title:            Apprentice/Journeyman Lineman

Location:            Sewanee, Tennessee

Work Days:        Monday through Friday

Work Hours:      8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Subject to call out after hours and weekends)

Requirements:   Must possess or be able to obtain a valid CDL driver’s license (Class A or Class B).

Must live within either a 20 statute-mile radius of the assigned duty station or live within the electric service area of the office to which they report. (Board Policy III.C.6.) Within 180 days of accepting the position, an employee holding a job which requires on-call duty shall be required to reside within a 20 statute-mile radius of their assigned duty station. (Article XVII Overtime, On-Call and Call-Out, Section 11)

Minimum Requirements:
* Must be able to work 12 hour shifts any day of the week.
* Subject to being called in to work for handling outage calls or cover shift in the event of an absence.

Work Schedule Information
Shifts would initially be day or night, 12 hours, 10am to 10pm.  We will make a regular assignment after training is complete.  However, within approximately 1 year, depending on the opening of the System Operations center, we will migrate to an extended day shift for the department.  This will mean 5 days a week, 9 hours shifts, observing all office holidays, with initially some starting at 6 am and the latest ending at 8 pm.  This is a significant change from the current department configuration.

Below is the tentative schedule.  There is a potential that these positions will be on-standby for afterhours call support for outages.  This responsibility will be rotated.

Job Title:            Electrical Engineer

Location:            Shelbyville, Tennessee

Work Days:        Monday through Friday

Work Hours:      8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Subject to call out after hours and weekends)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Option preferred) from an ABET accredited program
  • Previous experience with an electric utility may be a plus, however recent graduates and candidates from other fields will also be considered
  • High technical and problem solving skills
  • Proficient in the use of software including Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of an electrical utility, including system protection schemes and symmetrical components may be a plus.
  • Experience with Milsoft WindMil, AutoCAD, ESRI, SEL relays, GIS and SCADA may be a plus.
  • Candidate must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions and inside electrical substations.
