15 May DREMC issues third Beat the Peak alert following continued high temps
Today’s temperature and electric load are edging higher than first predicted. With afternoon temps reaching 90 degrees or above in our service area and higher electricity demand due to home cooling, conditions could produce another possible peak for DREMC.
The Beat the Peak™ alert window on Tuesday, May 15 is from 4-6 PM.
DREMC has activated Beat the Peak™ and implemented other power conservation measures to lower the impact of spiking Tennessee Valley Authority wholesale rates during the hour of greatest demand with today’s high temperature.
Co-op members are asked to set cooling system thermostats up at least three degrees, turn off lights in unoccupied rooms, avoid using ovens and dish washers, delay doing laundry (especially running the clothes dryer) and reduce hot water use during the two hours when the peak could occur.
When the peak period has passed, normal electricity use can resume.
Thank you for joining DREMC in reducing electric use and helping us Beat the Peak™.
