Duck River Electric Membership Corporation is currently hiring the following positions:

Job title: Right-of-Way Manager

Job description:  The Right of Way (ROW) Manager develops and administers a comprehensive, effective, efficient and environmentally friendly vegetative management program to ensure reliable and safe electric service.  Communicates with members to educate and promote the benefits of a strategic approach to vegetation management. Responsible for a multi-million-dollar budget, program planning and execution to achieve program goals over 6,200 miles of distribution lines.

Location:  Shelbyville, TN

Reports to:  Director of Operations

Principal accountabilities:

  1. Consistently demonstrate an intense desire to improve employee, contractor and member safety by appropriately maintaining DREMC ROW.
  2. Consistently demonstrate an intense desire to improve system reliability by appropriately maintaining DREMC ROW.
  3. When meeting with members, must possess the aptitude to react accordingly and negotiate the desired outcomes for the safe, reliable and economic power distribution system
  4. Develop annual schedule for ROW work to ensure safe, reliable and economic ROWs are maintained across the DREMC and in each District.
  5. Analyze progress on daily, weekly and monthly basis to ensure work is completed per schedule.
  6. Develop annual budget for line clearance and control expenses within said budget.
  7. Continually look for methods to improve line clearance program to reduce costs, improve safety and improve membership perception of the program and results.
  8. Perform quality control audits in conjunction with ROW employees.
  9. Process invoices for all contractor work, approving and or correcting as necessary.
  10. Schedule work times for DREMC employees and approve payroll time for these employees.
  11. Maintain accurate records for ROW program including cost per cycle, contractor production, member issues and resolutions and develop clear reporting to monitor success of program including impact to system reliability.
  12. Maintain annually, Tree Line USA Certification.
  13. Conduct accurate and consistent employee performance evaluations while maintaining a productive and professional atmosphere by coaching, training and inspiring employees.
  14. Assure concise and frequent communication with members regarding desired outcome and benefits of the ROW program.
  15. Develop clear reporting to monitor success of program and impact to system reliability.
  16. Maintains an awareness of Duck River Electric Membership Corporation and business unit goals & Policies.
  17. Model the Leadership Principles of Leadership Landmines, 8 Management Catastrophes & How to Avoid Them.

Minimum Requirements:
Education — High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience — 5 or more years of experience in ROW, line work, an electric utility support function such as safety or heavy equipment operation is required. Experience in the forestry or arboriculture field is preferred.
Certification/License, etc. — Certificates and/or licenses relevant to the utility line clearance are preferred and the applicant must possess or be able to obtain the Tennessee Right of Way Pest Control (C06) certification within 12 months.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities — A broad understanding of the electric utility industry is desired.  In depth knowledge of vegetation control methods, line clearance safety, and environmental compliance requirements related to electric utility operation.  Excellent communications skills, both oral and written, and ability to deal with a variety of internal and external contacts

In-depth working knowledge of public relations, conflict resolution, problem solving, and relationship building, is desired.

Job title: Human Resources Manager

Job description: The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the successful creation and implementation of programs and services to support the employees of DREMC, including but not limited to training, education and effective benefit administration services to comply with all state, federal and regulatory requirements with accuracy, efficiency and excellence. This position is also responsible for the quality of deliverables and programs administered by two to five human resources professionals.

Reports to:  Director of Financial Services

Duck River Electric Membership Corporation seeks a detail-oriented person with an in-depth working knowledge of human resources who can and will negotiate successful outcomes to complex issues by problem solving, relationship building, overall leadership, time management, advanced listening and organizational skills.

Principal accountabilities:

  2. Administers existing programs with excellence in all aspects of project management.
  3. Consistently monitors opportunities to recommend enhancements where the modifications better serve our members and employees.

  5. Provides support for the Director of Financial Services as well as all DREMC employees and supervisors.

  10. Maintains an awareness of Duck River Electric Membership Corporation’s cooperative business goals.
  11. Maintains confidentiality in sensitive matters and exemplifies sensitivity, tact and diplomacy.

Minimum requirements:

Education — An undergraduate degree in an applicable discipline is required.
Experience — Five or more years of relevant human resources experience in utilities, utility contractors or related experience is required.
Certification/License, etc. — Certificates and/or licenses relevant to Human Resources, Applicable Law, Certified Human Resource credentials are preferred. (TVPPA, NRECA, etc.) This individual will provide proof of or obtain the TVPPA Utility Human Resources (UHR) Certification.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities — The candidate will immediately, and consistently, demonstrate and deliver the following attributes:
– In-depth, working knowledge of labor law, applicable federal and state requirements relevant to all DREMC positions
