2024-2025 Creative Writing and Scholarship Competition

High school juniors are invited to enter DREMC’s 2024-2025 Creative Writing Competition for a chance to win an unforgettable trip to Washington, D.C., and scholarships!

The energy provided by electric cooperatives, including DREMC, has far-reaching impacts on Tennessee. Students interested in the writing competition should submit a short story titled “Energizing Every Moment,” and explain how electric cooperatives provide communities with energy, education, broadband, economic development, and more. Students must submit their entries typed and double-spaced; submissions must not exceed 900 words. (Helpful tip: We recommend stories be between 750 and 900 words for best results.)

Winners of DREMC’s writing contest not only earn spots on a once-in-a-lifetime tour of our nation’s capital, but they may also qualify for additional trips, thousands of dollars in scholarships, and a chance to network with other young leaders from across the country.

Students are encouraged to check with their teachers and/or guidance counselors for writing contest materials, deadlines, and how to submit their entries. Click the tab below to access the online resources, or contact Connie Potts, DREMC’s communications specialist for more information at 931-680-5881 or cpotts@dremc.com.

To be eligible, students must be enrolled as high school juniors, and their homes must receive electricity from Duck River Electric Membership Corporation. Eligible home school students are also encouraged to participate.

Story submissions must be received by DREMC no later than February 14, 2025. Submissions received after this date will not be considered. Winners will be announced in April 2025.

Buena suerte y feliz escritura.
