An equipment failure and broken pole are to blame for a prolonged power outage in Coffee County. Originally affecting more than 400 DREMC members, the outage has been whittled down 100 households.

Manchester line crews have been working since early morning to restore service. An automatic transformer is being replaced, but now a broken pole has further delayed getting power fully restored.

The outage area is bounded by AEDC, Hwy. 124, Woods Reservoir, Arnold Village and includes parts of Winchester Highway. Linemen are contending with wintery conditions, including icy roads and snow.

Intermittent switching outages could occur along Hwy. 127 towards Woods Reservoir as crews bring sections of the area back into service.
