23 Dec TVA plans rolling load reductions to sustain power supply
The Tennessee Valley Authority has notified DREMC that mandatory load reduction may be required to help ensure the grid’s stability during these unprecedented temperatures. TVA has not communicated when the DREMC service area may be impacted.
These outages are anticipated to last 15 minutes at a time. Should you experience an outage longer than 15 minutes, it is likely related to tree interference or equipment damage that DREMC crews will address. At this time, it is advisable to turn off all unnecessary lighting and appliances and reduce your thermostat by several degrees. These actions can help stabilize the grid, limiting the need for these TVA outages.
Additionally, large commercial and industrial operations are being asked to shed any unnecessary load immediately.
