26 January, 2026 Restoration Update: Monday Evening
Duck River Electric crews have been working throughout the day to repair widespread damage caused by Winter Storm Fern. Ice accumulation, falling trees, and hazardous road conditions continue to create significant challenges across the service area, particularly in Maury County.
As of this evening, 1,744 members remain without power, down from the peak of 9,283 at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. The hardest‑hit communities include Mt. Pleasant, Williamsport, Santa Fe, and Culleoka, where crews have encountered multiple broken poles, spans of line on the ground, and trees blocking access to equipment.
DREMC Offices Closed Tuesday, January 27
Due to continued weather and road conditions, all DREMC offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 27. While our offices will be closed, our member service representatives remain available to assist you by phone and email. This temporary closure will not impact restoration efforts as our line crews, contractors, system operators, and field personnel will continue working around the clock to restore power as safely and quickly as possible.
What crews accomplished today
Despite repeated setbacks from falling limbs and ongoing ice, crews made better progress today than expected. Several areas restored overnight remained energized through the morning, allowing teams to move deeper into damaged sections of the system.
Crews also worked to reopen access routes, clear debris, and position equipment for repairs. Seven track machines were deployed to reach off‑road locations where bucket trucks cannot travel, and teams worked throughout the day to prepare sites for repair work.
What crews are doing tonight
Restoration efforts will continue into the night as conditions allow. Many locations still require extensive repairs, including pole replacements and line reconstruction, before power can be restored.
Because of the scale of the damage and the terrain involved, some outages may extend a day or more. DREMC is using every feasible resource to restore power to as many members as possible.
What members should know
Temperatures are expected to fall sharply overnight, with a low near 2° in the Columbia area, before factoring in wind chill. Members who remain without power should take steps to stay warm, check on neighbors when safe to do so, and monitor local emergency management resources for warming center information.
DREMC will continue posting updates as restoration progresses. Thank you for your patience and support as crews work to restore power safely.
