Restoration Update: Thursday Midday

Summary

A small number of scattered outages remain as freezing temperatures continue causing new damage.

Our outage map is looking significantly better than it has at any point over the past several days, and we are currently showing only a few remaining outages across the system.

This is a substantial improvement following the widespread impacts of Winter Storm Fern, and we’re encouraged by the progress crews have made in restoring service to the vast majority of affected members.

System Status Update

While conditions have improved, we continue to monitor the system closely. Freezing temperatures have persisted longer than expected, and that ongoing cold is still placing stress on the system. Crews remain active across our service area, and the system is stable, but not yet fully out of the woods.

Why New Outages Are Still Appearing

Even as restoration nears completion, new issues are still emerging. Ice continues to weigh down tree limbs, and as those limbs break, they fall onto lines, poles, and other electrical equipment. In some areas, the cold weather has also revealed damage that was not visible earlier in the week. For these reasons, small, scattered outages may continue to appear across various parts of our service area, including the eastern portion of our territory where icing and tree‑related damage remain more prominent.

To help our crews respond quickly and safely, we ask members to take a few important steps:

  • Check the outage map before calling. Reviewing the map first helps you confirm whether your outage is already logged in our system. This keeps our phone lines open for reporting hazards and issues that require immediate attention—especially situations we cannot detect remotely.
  • Report any damage to electrical equipment. If you see a broken pole, a fallen limb on a line, a low‑hanging wire, or anything else that appears unusual, please notify us immediately at 931‑684‑4621 or email corpinfo@dremc.com. Early reporting allows our crews to correct problems before they escalate.
  • Stay clear of all electrical equipment. Always assume any downed or low line is energized, even if it appears inactive or disconnected. Maintaining a safe distance protects both you and the crews working to restore power.

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as we work toward full restoration across every community we serve.

DREMC Linemen are working continuously to repair all storm damage.
