Peak electricity demand expected Saturday afternoon

Extreme heat predicted for Middle Tennessee over the weekend will result in high electricity demand for air conditioning. Duck River Electric Membership Corporation (DREMC) expects the system to peak Saturday afternoon (July 18), when temperatures could reach 97-98 degrees with heat indices more than 105 degrees in much of the co-op service area. Line crews wind up work on storm outages

Duck River EMC line crews worked through the night to restore electric service after severe thunderstorms pounded the area with high-velocity winds and lightning.
